Through two isolation studies, three bioassay studies and one nursery performance trial, APC has shown efficacy in preventing the transmission of the PED virus as well as the PRRS virus and Senecavirus A in feed. This week during ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference, De Jong along with Gordon Spronk, veterinarian and chair on the Pipestone Veterinary Services board of directors, announced that Alltech is acquiring a new mitigant technology called APC from Cornerstone (a joint venture between Pipestone and Ani-Tek to explore the technology).
In November 2014 Eddie Gibson, a dairy farmer from Walton, Kentucky, became the first farmer in the state to install a robotic-milking system.
But just five years later, Eddie tells AgriLand – during a farm visit organised as part of ONE19: The Alltech Ideas Conference – that his dairy ventures haven’t worked out quite as he had planned – from a financial standpoint at least.
Technology, genomics, direct marketing to consumers and emerging international markets are all having an impact on global dairy picture. During the Alltech ONE Conference in Lexington, Kentucky on May 21, attendees listened in on a variety of topics impacting dairy producers from across the globe.
But it’s his failures, Gylls says, that got him where he is today. And Grylls has this message for people in agriculture: Never give up.
“Big moments in life leave marks,” Grylls says. “If there’s one message I want you to take away today, know the power of unwavering, unrelenting resilience.”
This message is the reason Alltech CEO Dr. Mark Lyons chose Grylls as a keynote at the 2019 Alltech One conference.
