All About Feed: How do raw materials affect animal production, and how can enzymes help?

Submitted by jnorrie on Tue, 02/16/2021 - 12:25

One of the biggest challenges that producers face is the rising cost of feed, which can account for up to 70% of total production expenses. Furthermore, around 25% of the available nutrients in feed cannot be fully utilized by the animal due to the anti-nutritional factors of feed, aspects that negatively affect nutrition. Additionally, the variability and availability of raw materials also play an important role.

Submitted by rjones on Fri, 02/12/2021 - 10:16

As we approach the hectic calving season in Ireland, Cathal Bohane, head of InTouch nutrition discusses the issue of NEB.

All cows will lose some condition and will fall into negative energy balance (NEB), regardless of management. But how long we leave them there and the severity of it is what can cause the damage.
