The 14 cubic metre KEENAN MechFiber320+ is one of the most popular diet feeders in the KEENAN range. The MechFiber380+ is designed for the farm that wants to feed large numbers of animals in a short period of time. With a payload of 9,000kgs, the machine is capable of feeding up to 170 dairy cows or 320 fattening cattle for 24 hours with a single load. The machine manoeuvres like the smaller MechFiber365+ with some unique stand-alone product features.

Body Design

The body design has been optimised to carry the curve of the body around closer to the top of the knife, to reduce, or remove the effect of a pinch point created after the top knife. This has been designed to reduce the peak power requirement and reduce the stress on the machine in operation.

Oil Bath

The principle of the complete oil bath for the chain drive has been retained from the MechFiber400+, but simplified from both a build and maintenance point of view.

Body blades

The number of body blades, set up and location has been reviewed and optimised. All blade are located within the main body of the machine nominally between the 5 and 7 o’clock positions. This ensures that material is chopped efficiently without increasing power requirement.

The KEENAN MechFiber365+ is in the large-sized range, feeding 100-140 dairy cows per load or 200-280 beef finishers. The machine comes with a heavy-duty sealed oil-bath drive system which is self-lubricating for ease of maintenance. The MechFiber370+ sets new standards in ration mixing, combining KEENAN’s unique MechFiber technology with high capacity. It will feed 100+ cows in a single load. This diet feeder is ideal for medium to large scale farms. With its high auger positioning, feeding into high troughs or barriers is easy. It comes with or without Bale Blending technology. There are a variety of optional extras that can also be chosen.

Lower power, torque and fuel requirements

The MechFiber370+ can be towed with a 90HP tractor. To drive the mixer, when loaded, requires approximately half this power delivering substantial savings in overall fuel consumption (and often size of tractor) compared with other mixers. 

Simple two-chain drive system

KEENAN’s simple two-chain drive system has an unbeatable track record of reliability. A primary drive chain and three sprockets transmit power to the auger and idler. A second sprocket powers the much larger paddle sprocket.

Automatic oiler

An automatic oiling system can be fitted as an option and is operated by the hydraulic rams opening and closing the guillotine door. This delivers ‘pulses’ of oil to the drive chains, lubricating them to the optimum levels for safety and improved chain life.

The MechFiber400+ is ideal for the larger operator requiring higher work rates, higher capacity, durability and trouble-free operation. It has a heavy duty 4-chain drive system and a capacity of 10 tonnes.

Heavy duty chassis, steering axles and road-suspension

Tandem axles are fitted as standard and for utmost manoeuvrability steering axles are optional (with 3,000mm steering axle). The heavy duty chassis is designed to give the driver improved weight transference and improved stability when travelling at road speeds.

Four-chain drive system

The four-chain drive system is designed to extend the working life of the machine. This is all achieved by shortening the drive ratio on each individual chain and returning the drive to the auger with an independent chain. All four chains are tensioned by a spring assembly.

Oil bath

The four-chain drive system operates in an oil bath keeping all chains lubricated to their optimum levels for safety and longevity. The oil is constantly fed to the chains through a series of strategically placed channels and recycled back to the oil bath. This further improves the dissipation of heat and increases the working life of the chains.

Central greasing

For ease of maintenance ‘central greasing’ is fitted as standard to the MechFiber400+. An 18-port manifold allows you to grease those hard-to-reach bearings quickly and easily from one single point.

Baleblend Big Bale processing

The MechFiber400+ can be supplied with the latest Baleblend bale chopping technology. Big round or square bales of forage placed directly on the machine’s top cradle are chopped and incorporated into the ration in a matter of minutes.
