New award launched to recognise innovative and sustainable farmers
Recognised as a year like no other, 2020 reminded the whole country of the role British farmers play in keeping the country. As we continue our economic recovery, we move forwards as an industry to seize the opportunities leaving the EU could provide in the future.
As consumer trust and confidence in British farmers reaches a record high, The British Farming Awards 2021 returns to salute the fantastic work taking place across U.K. agriculture.
Back for its ninth year, this year’s event is hosted by AgriBriefing, the parent company of Farmers Guardian, Arable Farming and Dairy Farmer, and is supported by Morrisons. The awards celebrate the diversity, innovation and adaptability of farmers across all sectors, no matter the size and scale of their business.
New to the event this year is the introduction of a new award — Sustainability Innovator of the Year — sponsored by Alltech. The award recognises farmers who are farming in harmony with the environment and working to safeguard the future of our shared planet for generations to come.
At Alltech, we call this Working Together for a Planet of Plenty™. A planet where science-based solutions help ensure sustainable food production for the global population. A planet where agriculture’s story is central to the development of thriving communities and ecosystems. A planet where, through collaboration and innovation, we can create a world of abundance for future generations.
“This award recognises and celebrates farmers whose passion and ingenuity strives to ignite new ideas and innovations to help create a planet where plants, animals and people thrive in harmony for future generations,” Fergal McAdam, U.K. General Manager says. “Farmers are essential to the development of thriving communities and ecosystems, and their work illustrates the enormous potential that agri-food has to positively shape the future of our planet.”
This award is open to forward-thinking farmers managing operations of all shapes, sizes and systems. Farmers whose diligent work illustrates the enormous potential that agri-food has to positively shape the future of our planet. Farmers who work collaboratively to propel sustainable agriculture into a new world of possibility.
