Who can participate?

Undergraduate students of any Animal Science field currently enrolled in an accredited college or university


How do students participate?

Students must write a scientific paper of approximately 3000-3500 words based on a topic involving animal nutrition. Suggested topics are published on our website.


Is registration mandatory?

Yes, it is mandatory to send the registration form by February 29, 2008.


How will I know if my paper is a winner?

Alltech will communicate the date and location of the awards ceremony through contact information provided on your enrollment form.


How will winners be chosen?

Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges specially selected for this competition. The judges will be appointed by Alltech, and each will consist of three (3) members, one (1) representative of Alltech, and the other two (2), researchers / professors and/or industry leaders.

Can non-US citizens participate?

Yes, as long as they fulfill the requirements listed in the rules and regulations.

What are the judges looking for?

Depending on the type of project things they are looking for could include:

  • Does the abstract adequately describe the content of the submission?
  • Was the subject area narrow enough that an in depth submission was possible?
  • Was the subject in the general area of the animal feed technologies described on the website?
  • How well is the existing literature reviewed?
  • Is evidence provided in a logical order?
  • Is there a convincing line of arguments?
  • Has the author gone beyond presenting facts (data) to explanations and understanding?
  • Are the conclusions concise and accurate?
  • Did the author communicate what they set out to communicate?
