Written presentation
- Clarity – clear, well organized (10 points)
- Validity – correctness (10 points)
- Originality (10 points)
- Scientific thought and understanding (10 points)
- Significance – implications of project/subject (5 points)
- Thoroughness - effort /variety of resources (5 points)
- Level of Science - from paper project to experimentation (10 points)
Judging Level of Science on Experimental Data (for judges only)
- Experimental design and protocols appropriate?
- Results: Data collection and analysis
- Command of techniques and skills
- Validity of conclusions
The judging parameters above will be used by judges for both levels (regional and international).
The international level criteria will be different. There will also be a judging of posters, worth 10 points and a judging of the oral presentation, worth 30 points for a total of a possible 100 points.
Judging of
Posters
Judges will have read the paper, but not heard the PowerPoint presentation –
they will judge the poster as a stand alone based on the information on the
poster without the student present. The student will have prepared the poster
with the help of an Alltech graphic designer. Judging of the poster will
be 5 marks based on the final poster as decided by the judges and 5 marks
from the graphic artist based on what was submitted for preparation.

Judging of Oral Presentation
- Verbal – complete and accurate information given (5 points)
- Physical – confidence, preparation (5 points)
- Powerpoint content (layout) – easily readable slides
- Content and knowledge -Translation of concepts from paper to oral presentation, understandable and interesting points (5 points)
- Timing – practiced, well paced (5 points)
- Q & A - Ability to explain and defend
topic in question/answer session (5 points)
