What is the Young Animal
Scientist Award?
The
Young Animal Scientist (YAS) Award was created by Alltech to continue the company's
commitment to furthering science. Alltech has created the competition through
animal and dairy Science departments at various universities throughout the world
to promote research and talent. The program will provide a unique opportunity
for undergraduate students to interact with one of the industry's leading players
in the animal feed industry. It will be divided into two phases: regional and
international level.
The competition will begin in the fall semester of the 2007 school year, when Alltech will invite students to participate in the first phase of the program. In phase one, participating students will submit a paper chosen from a set list of topics relating to natural solutions to animal health challenges. The winner of the regional phase will move on to the international level of the competition, where each candidate will be asked to submit a scientific poster and a presentation to a panel of several judges. The international competition will be held at Alltech's Global Headquarters in Kentucky during Alltech's International Feed Industry Symposium, which will take place April 20-23, 2008.
The winner of the Young Animal Scientist of the Year will receive a scholarship of $5,000 USD, and a trophy of recognition.
