THE ALGAE OPPORTUNITY
THE POWER OF DHA & THE FUTURE OF FOOD
Rebecca Timmons, Alltech
What is it about algae that has industry and science so excited? Could they be the future of biofuels? Could they be the future fats and oils and pharmaceuticals? Why all the talk about DHA? How can we relate that to our own human well-being, and to the well-being of our animals? From brain health to eye function to heart health to fuel—the future is now. A glimpse of the algae revolution and of a more sustainable future for food, feed and fuel.
GRASPING THE NEW REALITY
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Dr. Patrick Wall, University College Dublin
Enough is enough. First, there was Mad Cow Disease, then dioxins, then antibiotics. Now it is horse meat, or even donkey meat, disguised as beef. Consumers are frustrated, how can we expect them to trust? Enough is enough. This is what we have to do to tackle the crises plaguing our industry.
A GLIMPSE: 2020
MY VISION OF THE FUTURE
Dr. Mark Lyons
As we can see from the changes in the past seven years, the world of 2020 will not be the same as today’s world. After three years in Mexico, five years in Brazil, and two years in China, this, in my humble view, is where I think we will be in 2020, and what we need to do to get there. It is my GLIMPSE into the future—and these are my seven challenges to our industry.
