Antibiotic alternative helps reduce beef scours

[Lexington, KY] - Until recently, beef cattle producers around the world have relied heavily on the use of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in order to treat scours in their operations. On January 1, 2006, the European Union put into effect a total ban on AGPs in feed, and while the FDA has not implemented this regulation, many US beef producers have begun to incorporate alternative feeding strategies.
