Alltech to Announce New KY Job Creation Initiative Monday as its 30th Annual Symposium Kicks Off

WHAT: New Alltech initiatives, including an angel investment fund for job creation in Kentucky, will be announced during the opening session of Alltech’s 30th Annual International Symposium. A press conference with open Q and A will follow the session. The 2014 Alltech Medal of Excellence Award will also be presented in the opening session, as well as the 2014 Alltech Humanitarian Award.

WHO:  Dr. Pearse Lyons, founder and president of Alltech, will kick off the opening session and discuss an angel investment fund that will help spur jobs in Kentucky, as well as other new Alltech initiatives.

The 2014 Alltech Medal of Excellence Award will be awarded to Nobel laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, known as the “Father of the Green Revolution”. It will be presented posthumously to Borlaug’s granddaughter, Dr. Julie Borlaug Larson, associate director for external relations at the Norman E. Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture.

The 2014 Alltech Humanitarian Award will be awarded to Lopez Lomong, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, a two-time track and field Olympian, author of “Running for My Life” and philanthropist.

WHEN: The opening session occurs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EDT. The press conference will follow at 11:45 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m.

WHERE: Both the opening session and the following press conference will take place in Heritage Hall, Lexington Convention Center at the Lexington Center, 430 W. Vine St., Lexington, Ky. 40507. The opening session will stream live on alltech.com/symposium.
