Media Advisory: Eight Universities Set to Battle Saturday in Alltech Innovation Competition

WHAT:  In 2013, three Kentucky universities rose to Alltech President Dr. Pearse Lyons’ challenge – for $20,000, which school team could put forward the best plan for creating jobs in the Commonwealth, particularly Eastern Kentucky. In the end, it was an idea for reclaiming mountaintops with switchgrass for fuel from the University of Kentucky that reigned supreme. This year Alltech is seeking a business plan to capitalize on innovation in Kentucky’s food and agriculture sectors. $20,000 in prizes is once again on the line, but the competition will be much fiercer with eight Kentucky universities setting to battle:

1.  Asbury University

2.  Eastern Kentucky University

3.  Georgetown College
