Hitting a High Note: Alltech to Grant More Than $500,000 to Top Opera Scholars

Kentuckians are invited to the 9th Annual Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, to hear world-class singers compete for more than a half-million dollars in scholarships and prizes for the University of Kentucky School of Music

A compelling passion for arts and education drives Alltech’s president and founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons, to carry forward the annual Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, Kentucky’s largest vocal event. Kentuckians are invited to the 9th Annual Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, to hear world-class singers compete for more than a half-million dollars in scholarships and prizes for the University of Kentucky School of Music. In honor of Alltech’s Irish heritage and St. Patrick’s Day, this year’s event will incorporate appearances from the renowned Kentucky McTeggart Irish Dancers and live Celtic music will be performed by Liam’s Fancy. 

WHEN: Sunday, March 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST

WHERE: UK Singletary Center for the Arts, 405 Rose Street

MORE: Admission is free and open to the public. Paid parking is available on the UK campus and surrounding lots.

Alltech was classed in The BCA 10: Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America by Americans for the Arts in 2012. The annual designation recognizes American companies that support the arts through grants, local partnerships, volunteer programs, matching gifts, sponsorships and board participation.
