High Jumping at the Alltech National Horse Show is Twice as Nice for Rider Tim Gredley
[LEXINGTON, Ky.] – A hushed Alltech Arena burst into cheers as British rider Tim Gredley and his mount Unex Valente rocketed over a 7-foot wall, sealing a puissance victory for the second consecutive year at the Alltech National Horse Show on Friday night.
Gredley, who won the competition with the same mount in 2012, edged out American rider Aaron Vale and his mount Smartie in the final round of the competition. The $50,000 LIFEFORCE Elite™ Puissance was Gredley’s second puissance victory in two weeks after a win in the $25,000 Open Jumper Puissance at the Washington International Horse Show in October. The reigning puissance champion on the North American show circuit, Gredley of Suffolk, England, took home the $12,500 winner’s purse for his LIFEFORCE Elite™ Puissance win on Friday.
“Last year was good, but this year was really good,” said Gredley of the puissance test at the Alltech National Horse Show. “When the horses get in the ring with the crowd cheering, the energy gets into their blood.”
Six competitors, four of which were Americans, entered the LIFEFORCE Elite™ Puissance, the thrilling high jump competition that headlined events on Friday at the Alltech National Horse Show. The same night, young horse sport fans enjoyed the opportunity to meet with competing riders in the ring as part of the first Barn Night in the Bluegrass.
