Alltech’s Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale Lands in Canadian Market
[LEXINGTON, Ky.] - The demand for Bourbon Country’s beer has flowed across the Canadian border with the arrival of Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.’s award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™.
Debuting in Canada in December 2012, the Kentucky-crafted brew is now available at 217 Alberta and British Columbia Liquor Depot locations. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™, the top-seller of Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.’s line of beers, has now established a presence in nine U.S. states, China, Ireland and Canada.
Pleasantly smooth and robust in flavor, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ rests in charred oak bourbon barrels for up to six weeks to adopt a distinctive undertone of bourbon. Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. began pouring Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ into barrels five years ago, a practice that has grown to aging 5,000 barrels of the brew at a time today. The brew has earned numerous prizes, including a gold medal at the 2012 U.S. Open Beer Championships, a gold medal at the 2012 North American Brews Association Beer Fest, a silver medal at the 2012 Australian International Beer Awards, a silver medal at the 2010 World Beer Cup and a silver medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival.
Founded in 2000, Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. is also the maker of Kentucky Ale™, a blend of an Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale, Kentucky Light™, a German Kӧlsch style beer, and its newest addition, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout. Opening its Town Branch Distillery in 2012, the company now produces Town Branch™ Bourbon, Pearse Lyons Reserve™ malt whiskey and Bluegrass Sundown™ bourbon-infused coffee liquor.
