[LEXINGTON, Ky.] - Alltech has appointed Hal Gervis, a senior operations manager who has developed the company’s global presence for the past 16 years, to direct the growth of its newly expanded beer and spirit brands.
In his role as global operations manager for Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co., Gervis will unify the brewing and distilling teams, lead the facility in future expansions and broaden the reach of the company’s beer and spirit brands in the United States and internationally.
“A proven leader within the Alltech family, Hal will help put Alltech’s beer and spirits behind bars, on taps and in marketplaces around the world,” said Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech. “The popularity of our beer, bourbon and spirits has skyrocketed in the past year, requiring a capable leader to launch our brands to the next level. Hal brings to this position a passion for the products and a history of tremendous success running global operations.”
Gervis enters his new position during a period of rapid growth for Alltech’s consumer brands. In the past year, the company has introduced its inaugural spirits – Town Branch Bourbon, Pearse Lyons Reserve and Bluegrass Sundown – and completed construction for Lexington’s first new downtown distillery in more than a century. In addition to meeting a steady demand for Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and Kentucky Light in 14 states and nine countries, the company added Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout to its family of beers in November. The company, founded in 2000, employs 45 people and provides tours to an average of 70 visitors per day since the distillery opened its doors October. In addition, the company began distilling its first genuine Irish whiskey in collaboration with Ireland’s Carlow Brewing Company in 2012.
“In true Alltech fashion, the Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. has evolved from the entrepreneurial ideals originating from its founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons,” said Gervis. “With the organic growth of the bourbon industry and the continued success of our beers, we are eager to further our reputation of excellence around the world, proudly promoting products that are unique to Kentucky.”
Originally from London, England, Gervis joined Alltech as an operations expert in 1996 and succeeded in expanding Alltech’s production and operations through the development of teams in North American, Europe and Asia. He established new production sites in India, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia and Turkey while strategically promoting Alltech’s core competencies.
