The 10th Shrimp Health Management Training Workshop is underway in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop will take place over five days from Oct 3-8, 2005. Alltech Aqua, in conjunction with the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), are providing the workshop for shrimp industry professionals with attendees from India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei, Madagascar, Tanzania, Indonesia and Thailand.
Mr. Daniel Fegan- President of WAS (World Aquaculture Society) and Regional Technical Manager - Aquaculture for Asia Pacific, Alltech Inc., outlined the programme. "The workshop covers a wide scope of management practices for shrimp production ranging from life cycle, breeding programmes, pond management to disease control, as well as a two day field trip. It has been three years since the last workshop and over this time there have been a lot of changes in the shrimp industry particularly with the introduction of P. Vannamei".
Alltech Inc., a provider of natural feed ingredients for the aquaculture industry, and NACA, report record numbers and are looking at ways to develop this workshop across the region further in 2006.
