British specialist presents program on pig nutrition

[Lexington, Kentucky] - The Premier Pig Program, a program that presents strategies to improve profitability, nutrition and marketing in the pig industry, was held in March in Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil. The workshop, organized by global animal health company Alltech, was developed by a group of specialists in pig nutrition.

Dr. William Close from the United Kingdom, who is considered one of the premier specialists in pig nutrition, is responsible for developing the program in each country and customizing it according to local market needs. During the workshop he presented on, 'Managing and nutrition for weaned piglets' and 'Managing and nutrition for sows and pigs'. The program has already proven successful in New Zealand and Australia.

The Premier Pig Program is divided into three modules: 'Sows and Pigs', which was held in Argentina; 'Weaned Piglet' presented in Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil; and 'Growing and Finishing Pigs', which will be held in 2007. During the program, the specialists compare productivity levels, identify problems, and provide nutritional and management strategies for each phase.?
