Animal feed company provides global sustainable support

Lexington, Kentucky] - Sustainable development is defined as the achievement of continued economic and social development without detriment to the environment and natural resources. The quality of future human activity and development is increasingly seen as being dependent on maintaining this balance. Alltech regards sustainable development as a strategic issue - one of the organization's long-term business objectives.

Alltech has made comprehensive efforts to identify, monitor, and continually reduce the environmental footprint of its operations around the world, through its commitment to research and development, support of the industry through education and the ACE concept (promoting products that are safe for the Animal, Consumer and the Environment). Every new Alltech solution is held to ACE standards. Every new Alltech solution has its origins in nature.

Alltech employees consistently explore ways to foster environmental consciousness and awareness at all levels of the communities in which they carry out their business and with the farmers, suppliers and partners they work with in the animal feed industry.

For communities affected by natural disasters, such as the Tsunami in Asia, Hurricane Katrina in the USA and the floods in Eastern Vojvodina, Serbia-Montenegro, Alltech has been instrumental in helping rebuild communities by funding the construction of houses, boats, schools, and shops, and donating drinking water. Alltech also gives support to orphanages, such as Casa Hogar in Serdan, Mexico, where the employees of Alltech Serdan have donated much of their time and talent to work with these underprivileged children. Alltech also hopes to construct a children's park, create a virtual adoption program and provide academic aid for the children at Casa Hogar in 2006.

Alltech also believes education is the greatest gift. Schools supported by the company, such as those in Lexington, Kentucky, USA and Krabi province, Thailand, give thousands of children the opportunity to achieve a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.

According to Dr. Pearse Lyons, founder and president of Alltech, "We are committed to giving support to these communities that have been affected by such disasters. It is our responsibility to give back to communities that have contributed to our growth since our inception."
