Alltech Tsunami Response Fund
[LEXINGTON, KY] - Immediately in the aftermath of the devastation caused by the Tsunami that hit Asia, Alltech put its "Be Global, Act Local" mantra into practice, with the formation of the Alltech Tsunami Response Fund.
The company partnered with the Pattanarak Foundation, a non-governmental Thai organization, and identified several ways in which it could respond locally to victims in the Southwestern Thai province of Krabi, supporting widows and children who have lost their homes, family members and source of income.
As of May 2005, $110,000 U.S dollars has been committed to helping families in the area rebuild their lives. Through Alltech employees, volunteers and friends, the Pattanarak Foundation, has implemented the construction of seven homes, seven longtail fishing boats with motors, two retail shops and five fish cages.
Alltech's goal in donating resources will enable the people to re-establish their lives and livelihood. Some of the projects include constructing houses, boats and providing inventory to start small businesses.
