Alltech Founder Dr. Pearse Lyons in Keynote Address to Cork Chamber of Commerce
[DUNBOYNE, Ireland] – Irish-born entrepreneur Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, made his keynote address to the Cork Chamber of Commerce today, Friday the 1st of February 2013, at their annual dinner.
The Cork Chamber Annual Dinner is a celebration of the year in business, both locally and in Ireland. This year’s dinner saw a record attendance of almost 1000 people. Speaking from Cork City Hall, Dr. Lyons focussed on Ireland’s future and the potential of The Gathering to put the focus on Ireland’s capabilities:
“As a proud Irish man I am going to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the Gathering. I plan to bring our top events and best people to Ireland, where we can celebrate the grand Irish tradition of international commerce and trade, and highlight the enormous potential that still resides in Ireland,” he said.
During his speech Dr. Lyons also described the path to becoming an entrepreneur and discussed a number of Alltech Gathering initiatives taking place over the coming year:
“So far we have planned a total of 12 events that will attract and estimated 15,000 people, covering everything from animal nutrition, to beer. We will also be transporting the CEO’s of the biggest food and feed industry companies to Ireland, so they may experience all that is on offer,” he explained. “I do this because, like any Irish person who works abroad, I am intensely proud of my home, of its unique identity and it’s rich history, but most of all, I am proud of its people and of what we have, and still can, achieve.”
