Philanthropy

Alltech was founded in 1980 by Dr. Pearse Lyons with $10,000 and a dream. Today, Alltech remains a privately held company with a strong sense of commitment to the communities in which it operates.

Corporate social responsibility does not simply mean writing a cheque. That is why Alltech works closely with a new generation of professional advocates to develop and implement novel strategic programs to bring about real change.

Alltech ACE Foundation

Alltech believes in giving back to the communities in which we work. With this in mind, in 2010 we established Alltech’s ACE Involvement Foundation, a charitable foundation to help fund the philanthropic efforts of the company, its employees, and partners around the world.

Sustainable Haiti Project

Sustainable Haiti ProjectFollowing the devastating earthquake in January 2010, it became clear that Haiti needs more than disaster relief. They need sustainable economic growth, jobs, agriculture and education. The Alltech Sustainable Haiti Project began in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, with the goal of helping build a sustainable future in one small part of Haiti. Alltech's efforts have focused on education by working on improving and upgrading schools, strengthening local Haitian enterprises by launching a Haitian coffee and Caribbeean blend rhum, and leading various economic development projects throughout the country.

Fair Trade Coffee

It quickly became apparent that one of the best ways to have an immediate and lasting impact would be to build upon existing Haitian enterprise. Haiti was once a leading coffee producer, and we believe it’s possible for the country to recapture its former prominence in the coffee marketplace.

So we got to work, launching a brand of Haitian coffee – Alltech Café Citadelle. Through Café Citadelle, we aim to develop a sales and marketing channel for Haitian coffee. Rather than a hand-out, it’s a hand-up approach to help Haitian farmers get back on their feet and establish sustainable business that builds upon existing trade and resources.

Alltech Café Citadelle is a fair trade, shade-grown and hand-picked 100% Arabica coffee that serves as a sustainable source of income for the thousands of Haitian families. Profits from its sale go directly into our registered 501(c)(3) non-profit Alltech ACE Foundation, which helps fund two Haitian primary schools and economic development projects as part of our Sustainable Haiti Project.

It’s quite simple really. One cup of Café Citadelle coffee is a cup of hope for Haiti.
