Farm Tour Option 1 - BEEF

Thursday, 28th August – Saturday, 30th August 2014
Note: to be able to attend this tour please arrive before 12pm at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport and be at the Alltech Courtesy Shuttle System meeting point by 12:30pm.

What is included:

2.5 Day Tour including accommodation, transportation, 3 farm visits, attend the National Charolais Adult Show, 2 lunches and 2 evening meals.

Price:

€580 per person, based on twin rooms sharing.

Farm Tour Option 2A*, 2B** & 2C*** - DAIRY

Note: Tours depart from the designated Alltech event hotels in Deauville. When selecting your farm tour departure time, please allow 3 hrs travel time from Paris CDG airport and 30minutes for check-in to your hotel.

*Tour 2A departs Deauville at 15:00
**Tour 2B departs Deauville at 16:00
***Tour 2C departs Deauville at 17:00

Transportation between event hotel and farm, guided farm visit

Farm description:

GAEC Drakkar Holstein farm in Honfleur
Jan van den Oord is a genetics specialist. He sells embryos all over the world and the farms main focus is fertility. This farm milks 100 holstein cows and the annual herd average is 10,000 litres.

Jan places a lot of emphasis on the importance of quality silage and uses the highest quality corn and grass silage when feeding his cows.

Farm Tour Option 3 - DAIRY

1.5 day tour starting from Caen after the Alltech Games Experience and return to Paris

What is included:

Guided farm tours of 2 dairy farms, transportation, accomodation for 1 night, 2 lunches and one evening meal.

€330 per person (based on a room with 2 people sharing.)

Farm description:

Domaine St. Hyppolyte, Tuesday 2nd Septembere
The farm is located in the heart of Pays D’Auge, known for its agricultural and breeding land where milk and cheeses are produced. It is a traditional farm with architecture from the 16th century, and showcases the Normandy dairy breeds and the regions cheese making capabilities.

Christophe Fevrier manages 120 Normandy cows. The average milk production on this farm is 6,200 litres per cow per year. The quota is 800,000 litres annually. All of the milk is used for the production of high quality cheese such as Livarot and Pont l’Eveque

Farm description:

Earl Deux Sabots, Wednesday 3rd September
This farm milks 160 holstein cows with a herd average of 11,000 litres per cow per year.

This is a model of successful farm management and it is one of the top farms in the area, producing high quality grass, corn and beet silage. From his extensive travels the farm owner, Hermjan, has gathered innovative ideas from around the world before setting up his own farm in France. Currently Hermjan is the French president of the Association of European Dairy Farmers (EDF).
