QWhat are the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010?AOn September 25th, 2010, the world will be watching as 600 athletes and 700 horses representing more than 60 countries convene at Lexington’s Kentucky Horse Park for 16 days of competition representing the pinnacle of equestrian sport. Held every four years like the Olympics, the Games are the most prestigious equestrian competition in the world and are the world championships for the eight disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games represent a series of firsts in Games history:
- Held outside of Europe for the first time. Previous host cities include Rome, Aachen, The Hague, and Stockholm.
- Championships in the para-equestrian discipline will be included for the first time.
- All competition events will be held at one location, the 1,200-acre Kentucky Horse Park.
- This is the first time that the Games have had a title sponsor - Alltech.
QWhy did Alltech become the title sponsor of the World Equestrian Games?APassion, performance, and excellence – these are the values embodied in the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and these are the core values of Alltech’s brand. For almost 30 years, Alltech has had a passion for excellence in animal health and performance. As the only global championship level event celebrating animals performing at their peak, the World Equestrian Games are an ideal fit for the Alltech brand. QWhat is the relationship between Alltech and the equine business? A
The equine industry is only a small segment of Alltech’s animal health and nutrition business, traditionally representing only 3% of our global sales. However, Alltech has been developing products for the equine industry for over a quarter of a century. Through the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the company hopes to develop and grow this sector of its business.
Alltech is using the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games as a platform to introduce its first equine-specific products - LIFEFORCE FORMULA and Green Feed. The company has also christened a new equine research facility at its corporate headquarters, which will expand the non-invasive research it has been doing in partnership with the world’s leading universities. QWhat is LIFEFORCE FORMULA?ALIFEFORCE FORMULA is a once-a-day natural nutritional supplement for all horses at every stage of life. LIFEFORCE is the first Alltech product to be marketed directly to the consumer and represents nearly 30 years of scientifically-proven, fully traceable, natural technologies from Alltech. It was officially launched in the U.S. at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in April 2009 and in Europe at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May 2009. QWhat is Green Feed?AGreen Feed was developed through an Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games partnership between Alltech and O.H. Kruse. It is the first environmentally-friendly equine feed to be introduced to the U.S. market. From its bag to its formulation, Green Feed was designed to enable horses to perform at their peak naturally and with less impact on the land they call home. QWhat is the Alltech Animal Health and Nutrition Partnership Program?AShortly after its title sponsorship announcement, Alltech initiated a groundbreaking partnership program that has enabled dozens of animal health and nutrition companies from Germany to India and from Russia to Colombia to link themselves with the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The purpose of the Alltech Animal Health and Nutrition Partnership Program is to identify key players in each country who, as the Official Animal Health and Nutrition Partner of their country, can serve as multipliers of the message of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. This strategic partnership enables these companies to take part in collaborative sales, marketing and advertising activities in the build-up to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. QWhat is the Alltech Fortnight Festival?AThe Alltech Fortnight Festival began in July 2008 as a statewide, entertainment-centered countdown in Kentucky to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. It will culminate with a “fortnight” of live music throughout the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The 2009 Alltech Fortnight Festival ran September 25 – October 10 with 16 days of statewide entertainment celebrating the final year before the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. It presented 46 acts, bringing nearly 20,000 people to 14 venues in nine cities across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Throughout the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010, it will provide visitors and Kentucky resident alike with featured entertainment to enjoy after the day’s competitions have ended. The executive editor is Darlene Ricker, a former staff writer and editor for The Boston Globe and The Los Angeles Times. QWhat is the Alltech International Village?ALocated at the entrance of the Kentucky Horse Park, the four-acre Alltech International Village will welcome Alltech Games spectators with a pavilion dedicated to experiencing Alltech’s global initiatives. For example, this will include an aquarium-like space dedicated to Alltech’s work in aquaculture. After guests have had the opportunity to learn about the barley, hops, and other ingredients that are the lifeblood of Alltech’s brewing and distilling division in the Alltech Experience Pavilion, they can meander out into an open-air beer garden, where they can get an ice-cold taste of Kentucky Ale®, the Official Beer of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, while enjoying live, daily entertainment.
