I borrowed this post from Chuck Zimmerman of World Dairy Diary. He covered Global Dairy 500 last week and posted this interview with Carl Chaney of Chaney's Dairy Barn.
Mandi McLeod has worked in the dairy sector in a wide variety of roles. She has designed and / or implemented extension programs in New Zealand, Australia and China; conducted strategic planning in rural Russia; and consulted on farm management, business continuation and succession planning for farming families. Oh yes, she is also an equity partner in a dairy farm and dry-stock farm in New Zealand where she lives.
Tom Clinton started full-time dairy farming at the age of 15. Aidan Connolly, moderator for Tuesday's dairy panel, remarked that "we would consider that child labor today." From that early beginning, Clinton has built an impressive career in the dairy industry. He served as President of the Irish Farmers Association and his dairy business has grown dramatically from the original family dairy.
