Tom Clinton started full-time dairy farming at the age of 15. Aidan Connolly, moderator for Tuesday's dairy panel, remarked that "we would consider that child labor today." From that early beginning, Clinton has built an impressive career in the dairy industry. He served as President of the Irish Farmers Association and his dairy business has grown dramatically from the original family dairy.
Dr. Simon Timmermans is a veterinarian working in ruminant nutrition and medicine. He has dairy and beef clients and specializes in the role of nutrition in disease; especially with regard to trace mineral nutrition, mycotoxicosis prevention and post-ruminal bacterial infections. He holds an M.S. in Animal Science Ruminant Nutrition from Washington State University and a D.V.M. from Iowa State University.
Dairy farmers and beef producers from 31 countries across the world arrived in Lexington, Kentucky today for Global Dairy 500 and Global Beef 500. This is the third year for Global Dairy 500 and the first year for Global Beef 500. The theme for 2010 is "Sustainability in a Changing World".
