A Table for 2,000 Please

In a candlelit ballroom, Alltech Symposium delegates made new friends with 72 countries while noshing on salmon and sipping Alltech’s ice-cold Kentucky Ale® products.

Before guests could lift a final spoonful of chocolate dessert to their lips, a booming baritone broke through the friendly chatter as Thomas Gunther did table-side serenades on his way to the stage. Gunther was one of several Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition winners who delighted the audience with powerful and moving songs from Carousel and the University of Kentucky’s recent production of Phantom of the Opera, each final note met by applause from an audience on its feet.

The night was not complete, however, until Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech’s president, took the stage, transforming the ballroom into the atmosphere of an old Dublin pub, as he led the group – tables with arms linked – in the Irish favorite Molly Malone.
