Norman galloped into Norway seeking the famous midnight sun that he had heard so much about. He was spellbound by the country’s magnificent natural beauty. Norman knew little about the native Fjord horse and went in search of more information.
He was amazed to find that the horse is relatively small but very strong and comes from the mountainous regions of Western Norway. Norman was interested to note that the Fjord horse is one of the world's oldest breeds, it has been used for hundreds of years as a farm horse in Norway, and in modern times is popular for its generally good temperament. It reminded him of himself.
While enjoying an evening canter along the costline Norman spotted many salmon pens. He was aware of the large acquaculture in Norway but was curious to find out more. He visited Alltech’s Norwegian distributor Produs Aqua, as well as research institutions like Nofima and the University of Bergen. Here Norman was shown how aquaculture is a healthy and sustainable way of feeding the growing global population. Norman has highlighted a video to help those attending the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy understand the importance of the farming industry, but also the importance of salmon farming and feeding the world.
