Norman neighed hello to North Carolina, USA, as he trotted into this southern state. He was very excited to arrive and try some of the states famous biscuits and grits as his tummy was rumbling from the journey. Norman stopped into Wilmington, one of North Carolina’s coastal towns, he dipped his hooves into the ocean and felt the warm water swell over his feet. He was glad to spend some time relaxing before trotting across the state to make his surprise visit at the North Carolina Dairy Advantage Annual Meeting in Statesville.
Visiting the North Carolina Dairy Advantage Annual Meeting in Statesville
This popular event provides local farmers with important information and updates regarding key issues such as farm bill policies, animal practice requirements and overall management tips for their farms. This year’s meeting featured a presentation focusing on forage quality in the region. Malarie Robins, North Carolina Dairy Advantage, Dairy Development Coordinator was surprised and extremely happy to see Norman at the meeting. He was very impressed and hopes to share this information with the rest of the world during his global trot.
In the afternoon, attendees visited the Mountain View Dairy Farm in Union Grove, N.C., to see their state-of-the-art calving barn. Here they received a guided tour of the impressive facility and learnt more about their operations. While visiting the calving barn, Norman met one of the new baby calves. Norman thought that she was very cute, and he even let her give him a goodbye kiss!
After a very educational day it was time for Norman to leave and begin his journey to his next destination. As he trotted off his chest swelled with pride, he was so glad that Alltech is such a strong supporter of farmers in North Carolina.
