Kentucky Gathering Family Activities - What you need to know

No matter your interest or age, there’s something for you at the Kentucky Gathering. Families will find activities for children and adults alike around the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. Family activities run through the whole weekend in conjunction with Savor Kentucky and the Alltech National Horse Show. Here are some of the activities you and your family will find at the Kentucky Gathering:

Trick-or-treating

Alltech is still hosting trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. Fayette County has postponed trick-or-treating until Friday because of concerns about poor weather, but the Alltech Arena is a great way to get out on Halloween. It’s a safe, indoor environment for kids and families to come out and celebrate Halloween on Thursday. Trick-or-treating runs from 5:30-7:30 and is still free. There will be plenty of candy and costumed characters for kids to meet.

Kids’ play area

Kids activities keep going long after Halloween has come and gone. Stop by the free play area for kids on Friday, Nov. 1 from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. or Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. outside the Alltech Arena. They’ll find bouncy castles, pony rides, face painting and much more. Meanwhile, be sure to check out the local food vendors and craft brewers inside at Savor Kentucky.

The Biggest Loser RunWalk

Choose from any of three races at The Biggest Loser RunWalk on Nov. 2 to fit your abilities and goals. There’s a 5k, a 15k and a one-mile fun run for kids. All participants get a free technical t-shirt, a drawstring backpack, a finisher’s medal and admission to the Alltech National Horse Show. Runners also get admission to Savor Kentucky, where participants over 21 will receive a token for a free beer. You can also stop by the health expo held at packet pick-up on Nov. 1. For more information and to register, visit www.biggestloserrunwalk.com.

There’s plenty of parking at the Kentucky Horse Park, but you can also take the Kentucky Gathering Trolley from 5/3 Pavilion in downtown Lexington. The trolley leaves on the hour from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

You can check out all the events at the Kentucky Gathering and the Alltech National Horse show on the Kentucky Gathering website. Be sure to stop by at the Alltech Arena this weekend!
