Progressive industry leaders in the state of Minnesota, and owners of Enchanted Dairy, Ron and Jeannie Miller consider their farm not only a place of business, but more importantly, a home and legacy.
Milking around 1,800 head per day, the Millers know it takes many hands to make an operation like this run at its peak, and they have committed their time and efforts to focusing on herd health and longevity, as well as proper training of employees.
“As Enchanted Dairy grows, the number of people needed to manage and maintain our business grows as well. Communication, proper training and resources are key for us in preparing employees to become successful partners,” Miller said.
The Millers reached out to Jorge Delgado, Alltech’s On-farm Support technician for assistance in establishing tools to help train the dairy’s employees. “Training on stockmanship has helped us understand the interactions between people and cows. The cows are calm coming into the parlor and there is a more efficient flow, making for a more efficient work routine,” Miller said. “Through continuous working and training at the dairy, we have improved parlor performance, efficiency and milk quality and enhanced communications and teamwork.”
As dairy farmers, Ron and Jeannie continue to maintain their commitment to not only their employees, family, and farm, but also to feeding a growing population.
