Tyler Mortimer, owner and operator of Daloris Jersey Dairy, is one of the many outstanding farmers competing in this year’s Alltech Farmer Stories competition.
The goal at Daloris is to produce the best quality milk possible. When Mortimer had an issue with corn silage quality and concerns about mycotoxins, he started looking for solutions from partner companies such as Alltech. Within a week of starting the entire herd on Alltech’s Mycotoxin Management Program, feed intake and milk production improved significantly. The vet that consults for the dairy also believes the integrity of the rumen improved on this program.
Daloris Dairy is also the sole milk provider for local cheese maker Manwaring Cheese. When the dairy started the Mycotoxin Management Program, the cheese maker reported that milk quality improved and subsequently made better quality cheese. Needless to say, this cheese provider requested that Daloris Dairy continue with their new feeding program.
Mortimer is focused on using new technologies to improve the herd health and his bottom line.
