Tomorrow morning Alltech will open the doors and welcome over 2,800 guests to our Annual International Symposium. The first Alltech Symposium was held in a single hotel meeting room in 1985. There were 37 people in attendance watching presentations on a single slide projector. Alltech was only four years old at the time.
This year’s Symposium is our 28th. It has evolved from a tightly-focused feed industry event into an in-depth exploration of the challenges facing the agriculture and food industries between now and 2050. This year we will have 13 breakout sessions, including new sessions focused on marketing, food, IT, and crop science. We have 21 discussion dinners, five of which are in Spanish. Monday and Tuesday general sessions and daily interview shows will be streamed live on the Alltech Ag Network.
Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, took some time out today to tell us about the evolution of Alltech’s Symposium over the last 28 years.
