Katy Simpkins lives in Oakdale, California. Katy wasn’t raised in the cattle industry and her family's primary interest while growing up was horses. She showed in all-around events at AQHA shows and barrel-raced and roped in high school rodeos. Katy learned about cattle while helping friends and working for several of the area's cow-calf and yearling operations and feedlots.

Katy is a California state brand inspector and still helps on some family ranches when she has time. She is often invited to speak at local schools about the beef industry, ranch culture, and the brand department and loves presenting this amazing lifestyle to kids.

The ears in the photo belong to Marty, her 5 year old AQHA gelding that she shows in ranch horse versatility and reined cowhorse classes and though you can't see them her two border collies were trotting along behind!
