Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale Launches In Ireland

Did you know that there are more barrels of bourbon in Kentucky than people? There are 4.8 million bourbon barrels and 4.2 million people residing in the Bluegrass State. So why is this important for us? Well, we use these bourbon barrels to produce our unique, hand-crafted beer - Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. We add our Kentucky Ale to the bourbon barrels to mature for six weeks where the ale marries with the rich flavors and aromas from within the bourbon cask to culminate our Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

We began brewing Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale in Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. with just five barrels six years ago and now there are 5,000 barrels aging at any one time. It's a favorite among Kentuckians and now for the first time, the beer is available in Ireland and will be launched at the Irish Craft Beer Festival from September 7 - 9.

We've partnered with the Carlow Brewing Company, the number one craft beer producer in Ireland, who will act as our beer importer in Ireland.

It's not just us who think this beer is unique. During the 18th annual North American Brewer’s Association Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho this July, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale was awarded the gold medal for barrel-aged beer. It also recently took home the silver medal at the 20th Annual Australian International Beer Awards in May.

Come and try it for yourself - Visit our guest bar at the Irish Craft Beer Festival in the RDS, Dublin (Exhibition Hall 4) this weekend for a taste of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.
