I would love to receive training because agriculture is my passion and helping to bridge the gap between producer and consumer is my goal. I feel you can never stop learning and gaining more knowledge is always a benefit. There are some areas I would like to hone in on and maybe polish up so that I can advocate to the best of my ability. Social media is huge. It has allowed not only we as farmers and ranchers to tell our story more quickly with the click of a button but it has also allowed activists to apply pressure more quickly as well. We need to be out there sharing with everyone about agriculture and the truths because with one little article a whole sector of the industry could fall (pink slime and BPI). Activists will only continue to apply pressure and we need to stay one step ahead by reaching out and not being afraid to tell our story.
We raise 40 head of cattle in a cow calf operation in NW Ohio along with growing corn, beans, wheat, and hay. I also work for ABS Global selling bull semen and inseminating cattle so I am among beef and dairy producers on a daily basis. Everyday pretty much revolves around agriculture and I couldn't be happier about that.
