This week, Kentuckian Brandon Brown teed off with some of golf’s greatest legends at his first U.S. Open Tournament at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. But before joining the company of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, Brown was clutching championships in his own backyard. Hot off his championship at last year’s Alltech Invitational at Connemara Golf Course in Nicholasville, Ky., Brown soon graduated to higher rankings in the world of golf, making his debut on the PGA Tour in 2013.
A stepping stone tournament for the next phase of professional golfers, the 4th Annual Alltech Invitational, Saturday, June 29, gives golf fans a sneak peak at up-and-coming talent on the verge of PGA stature. Golf pros from the National Golf Association are teamed with three amateurs during this one-day scramble tournament. Brown will return to the tournament, along with other Kentucky pros including Mark Blakefield and Alex Misback. ESPN will broadcast live on-site during the tournament, which raises funds for Alltech’s philanthropic ACE Foundation.
