Tuesday, October 1st marks the beginning of Alltech’s annual Global 500. Now in its sixth consecutive year, the gathering of beef and dairy professionals from around the world will take place in Dublin, Ireland. This is the first time Global 500 has been hosted outside of the United States.

Dairy Hero: Rémi Talma

Rémi Talma is one of those young farmers who is passionate about his dairy farm. He settled in Beaudignies, in Northern France, less than a year ago. At 23, he took over the family farm consisting of 45 dairy cows. He is managing the farm with impressive precision and self expression. Improvement projects and expansions are planned for the short, medium and long term with his goal of "having more than 100 cows," in the next few years.

Alltech spoke with Prock at the 2012 World Dairy Expo about his work with Dairy Management Inc. and Dairy Checkoff. They’ve done some interesting work, including a partnership with McDonald’s which has led the restaurant to incorporate a handful of products with more dairy.

We caught up with Mess at the 2012 World Dairy Expo to talk about her farm in Johnson Creek, Wis. They have about 100 dairy cows there, but they might be a little different than your dairy cows. Most of their herd is crossbred, which has created an interesting situation on their farm.
