In 2009 Muhammad Ali traveled to Ennis, Ireland to explore his Irish ancestry. Ennis, a small town in County Clare, was home to Abe Grady, Ali’s great-grandfather who left Ireland for the United States in the 1840s during the Great Famine.

Mark Lyons recently moved to China to lead Alltech’s team there. He spoke to Symposium attendees during the closing session this morning about the “Great Call of China,” the opportunities and challenges for companies that want to do business in China. He described the complexity of China. Some of that complexity comes from its immense size. It is hard to sum up China partly because there are regions of China that are similar to Europe, Africa, the Americas, and the rest of Asia.

“What is the world record for milk production?” Dr. Mark Lyons asked over 400 of Beijing’s largest dairy producers, feed mill operators, agricultural educators and other influential industry professionals at Alltech’s China Dairy Symposium in Beijing this week. “You may be surprised to learn that it is in fact 32,500 kilos of milk, produced naturally,” said Mark as he challenged delegates to break boundaries.
