There’s still time left for you to enter the 3rd annual Alltech Farming Film Festival. Grab your camera and tell us your story of using science on the farm.

These videos are a chance to show people the science and work that goes into life on the farm. Alltech works to help farmers find new ways to improve their crops and livestock, and we want you to show how that happens.

Videos can be up to two minutes long and should focus on a farmer’s ideas on the science involved in farming. They must include footage of a farmer on the farm.

Dr. Everett McCorvey talks about growing up in Alabama, how President John F. Kennedy propelled the Civil Rights Movement from a local issue to the national stage, and how the spirituals of the slaves sustained the Civil Rights Movement.

Dr. Everett McCorvey, director of the University of Kentucky’s Opera Theater program,  is performing this week with his American Spiritual Ensemble in Ireland to mark John F. Kennedy’s visit to the country 50 years ago in June 1963. Just months before the president’s assassination, his visit to his ancestral home was marked by optimism of peace and success in the country, similar in some ways to his hope for his own country, which was in the midst of a bitter civil rights battle.

This week, Kentuckian Brandon Brown teed off with some of golf’s greatest legends at his first U.S. Open Tournament at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. But before joining the company of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, Brown was clutching championships in his own backyard. Hot off his championship at last year’s Alltech Invitational at Connemara Golf Course in Nicholasville, Ky., Brown soon graduated to higher rankings in the world of golf, making his debut on the PGA Tour in 2013.
