Fertility and Hatchability

Breeder performance is highly dependent on mineral nutrition.

Adequate mineral nutrition supports fertility, hatchability and chick quality. Selenium is particularly important since it is a component of antioxidant selenoproteins which serve a critical role during reproduction. During the second half of the male’s reproductive period, decreased semen output and quality as well as reduced mating frequencies are often recorded. Antioxidant selenoproteins are essential for protecting male reproductive organs and sperm quality.

The egg is designed to provide nutrition and protection for the development of the embryo. Mineral nutrition can positively influence egg formation and increase the chances of hatching a viable chick.
