- About Alltech
Alltech Ireland was opened in 1999 by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD and is home to our European Headquarters and Bioscience Center and supports 42 countries and 26 different languages. The Bioscience Centre offers a unique advantage as it houses all support functions for the European market including research, marketing, customer service, quality control, administration, IT, training and financial services to Alltech’s largest sales region.
Alltech Ireland’s market fits in the wider agriculture and food industries. Irish agriculture is primarily a grass based industry. The value of livestock and livestock products in 2006 in Ireland was estimated at €3,780 million. 4.4 million hectares of land in Ireland is used for agriculture (or about 64% of Irish land). There are about 130,000 farmers in Ireland.
Dairy Farming optimism hasn't been so strong since the 1970's and this sector of the industry is expanding to meet market demands for cheese, dairy ingredients and for fresh products. The renewed confidence is due to recent high prices. After achieving record exports in recent years, the Ireland's dairy and beef industry is expected to remain as an important source of supplies to the EU market.
