Overcoming the future challenges facing feed quality and regulation

[Lexington, Kentucky] — How do we set standards for raw materials? What regulatory issues must be addressed, and what quality control methods are needed in a world of total traceability and transparency? Alltech’s 23rd International Feed Industry Symposium will address these concerns during their three-day event in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, from May 21-23, 2007. The Symposium provides an opportunity for international experts to discuss these impending issues and propose the most viable solutions that will advance animal feeding programs and ultimately human health.

During the Symposium, Alltech’s feed quality and regulation session will look at the various concerns listed below:

  • The European Union Legislation - Its role in restoring consumer confidence - Willem Penning, Health and Consumer Protection Unit, European Commission, Belgium
  • Going global with a feed ingredient quality system applicable across the world: Lessons to be learned - Becky Timmons, Alltech USA
  • Distillers dried grains (DDGS): Towards a universally accepted quality control system - Dr. Karl Dawson, Alltech USA
  • Quality assurance of yeast products - Dr. Kyle Newman, Venture Labs, USA

Other speakers include Dr. Cathal Connolly and Dr. Karina Horgan, Alltech Ireland, and Dr. Steve Traylor, Alltech USA.

“Alltech’s Symposium will allow industry experts to come together to explore and present the latest research on areas such as creating a feed ingredient quality system applicable across the world, developing techniques for in-feed analysis — from oligosaccharides to enzymes and the quality assurance of yeast products,” said Becky Timmons, Alltech’s Director of Applications, Research and Quality Control.

Species sessions will also be held in the areas of dairy, beef, poultry, equine, pet, pig, and equine.

Alltech is the proud sponsor of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010™ to be held in Kentucky, USA.
